Radu Vancu’s story’s blend of melancholy and warmth allowed me to create illustrations that aim to reflect the inner world of the tiny king—his sadness but also the love that ultimately brings him joy. Through each illustration, I wanted to emphasize the magical bond between the king and his mother, capturing both the emotional depth and the comforting moments of the story.
The Tiny King/ Regele Piticuț was included in the annual catalog “The White Ravens” 2018. It is the most well-known guide for recommended children’s books in the world.
